How Yavar Created an Ingenious Solution for One of the Largest Potato Processing Companies

Project Brief

With more than 40 years in the business and a clientele spread across 136 countries, this potato processing company is a giant. It has created a name for itself with its products - fries, croquettes, mashed potatoes, and many more. Their catalog features 120+ products for diverse global markets. To manage their business operations, they use SAP - an ERP software.

The Challenges

SAP is a renowned software for efficient planning and managing enterprise recourses. More than 130k companies, including our potato-processing giant, use it for their business needs. But it comes with its limitations.

To have a seamless business with the clients, they must have SAP licenses. But that is very costly. It also comes with the risk of their clients accessing their information and documents from their SAP. They used to take orders via email and phone calls to avoid it. An employee would then manually update their SAP system with all the information about the orders. They could not track the orders. Not only was it highly inefficient, but it could also lead to errors and conflicting data.

Such a widespread and valuable clientele demands products and offers that are tailor-made for them. Apart from their website, they did not have any other platform to list their offers and products for their customers in different countries. They also needed support for multiple languages and currencies.

Here’s How Our Solution Solved the Challenges

To address the lack of a platform, customizability, and the cost and security concerns of SAP, Yavar developed a unique B2B web application for our client.

The SAP Workaround

The web application shows the entire product line-up. The customers can browse and place orders from the app without buying an SAP license for them. And as soon as a customer places an order, the app will send email and SMS notifications, keeping a record of the purchases and transactions. We integrated it with SAP via SAP’s proprietary SDK. Hence, it will update all the information about the customers and their orders in the SAP without human intervention.

Security

The web app Yavar created is members-only. No one from outside can access the web app until invited. The admin can manage the members. The invited customers can log in with two-factor authentication. This way, there is no comprise when it comes to security. The confidential information remains safe

The Result

The entire process of placing, tracking, and recording orders has become a lot easier and smoother for our potato-processing giant and its customers. We solved the challenge of manually updating records in SAP without any added licensing costs or security concerns. Yavar is proud of the solution it came up with and executed.
